- Dynamic Positioning Committee Mission Statement
- To facilitate the exchange of information, discussion of technology, training and education, foster improvement of predictable DP performance, develop guidelines, and address any other issues pertinent to dynamic positioning that support delivery of incident free execution of DP operations, and that are consistent with the objectives of the Marine Technology Society. The DP Committee was founded in 1996 as a Professional Committee of the Marine Technology Society www.mtsociety.org An MTS Professional Committee facilitates the exchange and transfer of technical information in a specific subject area among professionals from academia, government and industry.

About Us
- The MTS DP Committee is composed entirely of volunteers, with no permanent staff. The first Dynamic Positioning Conference was held in Houston, Texas, in October 1997. The strong interest in the initial two-day program of technical papers led to its continuation in subsequent years. By 2014, conference attendance reached a record 430 participants, with consistently strong sponsorship and a high level of international participation among authors and delegates.
- The conference now includes a pre-conference workshop and an exhibition featuring companies that support the DP industry with specialized technology and services. To address specific initiatives, subcommittees were formed. In 2012, the Guidance Subcommittee published the DP Operations Guidelines, followed by the DP Vessel Design Guidelines. These documents have been well received by both industry and regulators. Today, a growing collection of guidance documents is available for free download on the website. The development of new resources will continue to support the evolving needs of the DP community.
