Design
DP Vessel Design Philosophy Guidelines
You may download any of the DP Vessel Design Philosophy Guidelines listed below at no charge:
The guidance provided in this document is intended to aid in the design of a fault tolerant, fault resistant DP vessel. It is intended to apply to any class of DP vessel operating in support of offshore oil and gas activities.
Operations
Dynamic Positioning Operations Guidance
You may download any of the Operations Guidance documents listed below at no charge:
This guidance document addresses the safe and effective conduct and management of DP operations. It focuses on a number of important DP operational themes, which, if effectively managed, will result in safer DP operations and a reduction in exposure to DP related incidents. The guidance provided in this Part is not directed at any particular category of DP operation or DP vessel. It is intended to apply to any DP operation undertaken by any type and class of DP vessel operating in support of offshore oil and gas activities.
Part 2 provides operational guidance for DP MODUs on the themes identified in Part 1.
People Element
Dynamic Positioning Guidance For Personnel Professional Development
You may download the DP Guidance for Personnel Professional Development at no charge:
This guidance document is focused on enabling the development of DP awareness, knowledge and skills of multi-disciplinary Vessel Operational teams and by doing so facilitates delivery of incident free DP operations. The purpose of this document is to: 1. Enable development of people engaged in delivering operations where station keeping is provided by Dynamic Positioning. 2. Provide a structured approach to facilitate self-learning on DP operations with a focus on the vessel’s Industrial Mission. 3. Provide a path for continuing professional development training.

Intermittent faults have been identified as causal or contributory factors in a number of high-profile DP incidents. Historically, such faults have not benefited from the same level of scrutiny as hard (permanent) faults in the verification and validation processes applied to prove the single fault tolerance of DP vessels. This Techop is intended to assist stakeholders in addressing risks and consequences of intermittent faults.
