Plus optional Workshop October 8

October 9-10, 2018

There is nothing static about Dynamic Positioning Technology. It is constantly evolving through innovations, improvements and modifications. The best way to keep abreast of the latest technology, applications and changes is the Annual Dynamic Positioning Conference in Houston, the world’s leading DP Conference.

Welcome to the Marine Technology Society’s Dynamic Positioning

The DP Committee – a non-profit 503C organization – was established in 1996, with the objective of promoting a greater international understanding of Dynamic Positioning and related issues. In 2010, the Dynamic Positioning Committee Received the MTS Outstanding Committee Recognition.

Dynamic Positioning Committee Mission Statement

The Dynamic Positioning Committee’s mission is to encourage exchange of information, discussion of technology, training and education, foster improvement of DP reliability, develop guidelines, and address any other issues pertinent to dynamic positioning that facilitate incident free execution of DP operations, and that are consistent with the objectives of the Marine Technology Society.

Extensive Electronic Library of Accumulated Knowledge

Founded in 1996, the MTS DP Conference provides industry professionals with the knowledge base accumulated during these conferences via the website. This technological know-how and data covers a broad range of DP issues, incidents, and topics, providing the most recent, and comprehensive single source of DP information and DP industry technical papers available anywhere worldwide.

There are a large number of guidance documents available for downloading direct from this website.

We would like to assure all those who have registered for the upcoming Dynamic Positioning Conference in October – as well as those who are considering attending – that the Conference will take place as planned. Fortunately, the Westin Memorial Hotel was not affected by the storm and has been fully operational throughout the storm including power and utilities. The hotel remains easily accessible, and businesses and restaurants in the area are open and operating normally. We have met with the Westin Hotel staff, and they look forward to hosting our conference and have promised flawless service during the event.

While the devastating floods associated with Hurricane Harvey have impacted Houston, the water is subsiding rapidly and all airports are currently open and operating at full capacity. All major freeways are now open, with the exception of one small area of the Sam Houston Tollway, which is expected to be open well before the conference. Offices and businesses are open and back to work. To be candid, not everything that you may have seen on social media and from some unreliable news sources has been factual nor has it been an accurate reflection of the situation in Houston. We are confident, ready and able to put on the high quality technical conference you have come to expect, and the great food and entertainment that Houston is known for is still here, up and running, and doing business as usual.

The hotel has generously extended the date for booking hotel rooms at the discounted conference room rate to September 26th. Please book your hotel room now if you have not already done so. We have decided to extend the early registration date until September 26th as well. If you have NOT yet registered and plan on attending, please register now. A very strong technical program has been put in place, so please make every effort to attend. Please also make your hotel booking if you are coming from out of town.
